Kurb Software is a leading designer and builder of rooftop curbs and curb adapters. They were looking for a solution that will enable their customers that visit their website to configure and visualize products as they make their product selections.
Curbs are custom-made to meet specific project requirements. To simplify their sales process, Helioz implemented zipCPQ’s product configurator with features such as 3D visualization, CAD and 2D drawings available for download.
Onshape integration
Helioz developed a product configurator, accompanied by 2D and 3D visualization. The configurator is seamlessly integrated with Onshape models, enabling dynamic updates based on user inputs. Helioz’s Onshape service acts as a middleware, facilitating smooth data transfer and process automation.
The configurator allows users to select their product from various options, with a central image that dynamically guides the customers, updating regularly the changes in real time. Users can view the configured product in a 3D viewer, providing a clear and accurate representation of the final design.
Once all required data is populated, users can export a 2D drawing in PDF format and send an email to the design team with essential files for production.

The result
Efficiency: Automated processes reduce manual intervention, saving time.
Accuracy: Centralized and precise data ensures correct dimensions and design.
Ease of Use On-Site: The configurator is intuitive and easy to use directly on-site, making it practical for field applications.
Improved Collaboration: The integration streamlines communication with both the team on-site and the design team, ensuring faster and more effective collaboration.
Enhanced Customer Experience: The intuitive interface and real-time updates ensure high user satisfaction.
The configuration process
The first step of the configuration process is choosing the orientation for the curbs based on the viewpoint relative to the curb. They can be side-by-side or stacked. Choosing the orientation is important for the final dimensions. After deciding the orientation, the users need to input the dimensions of the outer edges. The next step is to determine the side of the supply duct location. The final step includes putting in the front, left, and right dimensions (for the side-by-side orientation) or the left, front, and back dimensions for the stacked orientation.
Once the user has their desired product, they send it to the design team and export the drawing.
- The first step of the configuration process is to decide the orientation.
- The second step of the selection process.
- Input your desired measures.
- Check your final product.
- And view it in 3D!
